i'm assuming you were in the same location and district as your friend. unless there was a lot of lag on his side you should be able to play together. obvious question here - was he using his connection for anything but GW at the time? no downloads, voice chat, or IM?
of course, if he's on aol dial up you might want to play alone and call him later to tell him how much fun you had without him. -Jerry "Work hard, rock hard, eat hard, sleep hard, grow big, wear glasses if you need 'em!" -Webb Wilder |

Finding friends
Actually this was part of the problem that we found with this beta test. It turns out that we were in 2 different worlds. 2 of us were in the burn-off ascelon and the other was in the pre-burn(we even exchange pictures). That may have been what the problem was, as it was the chat still crossed all bounds of the games. Also I started a thread that asks the question about locating friends...

Another possibility is that one of you ignored the ongoing plea to update your client, thus were playing two seperate (and incompatible) builds of Guild Wars.

as long as you are in the same zone and the same district, (same world?), then yes, you should be able to find your friend. holding down CTRL to see his name may help..

Yeah I was having the same problem, but both the computer where in the same house on the same network. I don't think it has something to do with connection, but something with the Beta. I hope the figure this out soon though, I don't want to have to deal with something like that.

somebody asked if both of you updated to the new build when the message was on the screen
if only one of you did you would be in 2 different games and so would all the other new and olds |

Actually I had 2 computers in the same house and a friends at another location:
1st was we were in different worlds. 2nd was different builds. 3rd It was just horrible trying to find someone in the first place with all the names. We even used the international server. Take a look at the Thread: Locating Friends... |
